Born in Nayarit, Mexico in 1968, Jaime Altamirano, along with his siblings, was brought to the United States by his parents in 1972. He attended public school in both the Burbank and LA Unified school districts. His higher-level education began at Los Angeles Valley Junior College where he subsequently transferred to California State University Los Angeles and graduated with a BS in Biology (1992). He went on to medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, graduating in 1996 and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Creighton University in 1999. From 1999 to the present, Dr. Altamirano has been practicing as a hospitalist in various health care delivery forums, from community medicine in a small group practice, to a private solo practice, hospice care, and within a large HMO practice system (HCP). Jaime competed in track & field, and cross-country in high school, junior college and at California State University Los Angeles. As a physician, and as a former collegiate runner, Dr. Altamirano understands that exercise is an integral piece of the puzzle in the complex challenges of health and wellness. Dr. Altamirano likes to keep things simple and practical and that’s what he brings to the table.
